Buñoleria El Contraste

Nothing, including war can put a lid on this Buñoleria.  Mariano Catalan Blasco and nephew Jose Puchades Catalan continue as the fifth generation in their family to churn out delicious fried dough in the form of traditional Valencian bunuelos (similar to donuts) and of course, churros. The result is so good, that in 2006, Catalan was flown to New York by a Spanish developer, to churn out the golden treats for the inauguration of a new building near Central Park.  “The secret is in fresh dough”, says Mariano.  We are believers.


Mariano Catalan is the 4th generation to churn out Valencia’s best bunuelos and churros.
